Me! Baby! Attention!

Jeez, I spend 9 months in a womb, and then I gotta sit it out in this silly box too!! Take me to your leader, NOW!

Dr from ER makes surprise visit

Thank goodness this handsome doctor was there to save the day :) Both The Maiden and The Butterfly are eternally grateful that he graced the room with his warmth, charm and good looks..... ok ok, enough already, more about the baby ;)

Time is money

Come on already.... I have things to do Ms Butterfly ;)

Now Hear This...

The Maiden listens patiently as The Butterfly gives her very first speech upon making her Grand Entrance, 14h30 at Parklane Clinic. Maiden and Butterfly are both doing great!

A Message To The Butterfly

Ahem... Now hear this Butterfly.
Both The Significant Other and The Maidens sister are convinced that you will have me wrapped around your finger from day one. Let me assure you that I run a tight ship, and there will be no wrapping of anyone around anybody's fingers. Kapeessh? Please be advised that there is only ONE sheriff in this town :)

Poles apart

On the left, what the Maiden pictured when the contractions started tonight.
On the right, what the Merchant pictured when the contractions started.
Go figure !!

Where real men fear to tread.

The face of calmness and serenity. Much unlike the one I witnessed less than 10 minutes ago when the Maiden experienced the first of her major contractions. Nothing like the movies I assure you. There we were, up in the loft, enjoying a quiet evening in, when suddenly the Maiden jumped bolt upright and hugged her tummy, evidently trying to calm the unborn Butterfly down. At that precise moment, no less than 2 feet away, I was torn between 2 equally important choices and had to make a split second decision... a) Crap in my designer Diesels out of sheer fright, or b) maintain some dignity and decorum and do the manly thing. For those unfamiliar with these 2 choices in a moment of panic, I highly recommend the 2nd option. Quick as a flash, I snapped open the laptop, googled 'contractions' with the ease and dexterity that would make Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible proud, and searched for a clue to enlighten the both of us as to what to do. Seems like these contractions will be the norm for a while, as they try and get in their 2 minutes of fame before the Butterfly comes into the world kicking and screaming. Oh, and after all that, I remembered to breath :) As the Chinese would say, "May you live in interesting times."

On Skydiving and Gravity

Aaarrgghh!! Seems like the BlogSite has a problem uploading pictures today, and just when I thought i'd paste some of my old favourites too :( Anyways, we are now down to counting days, with August 1st the official date given by the gynea for the Butterfly's grand entrance. Since nobody from either my family or The Maidens would even know where to begin looking up "Punctual" in the dictionary, all bets are that we should begin our season of Sleapless Nights by weeks end. "Am I looking forward to it, and how do I feel" are two of the most common questions i've been asked, along with "You? A father? NOOOOO...." Fact is, having been married for 6 years to undoubtably the most patient, caring, understanding and beautiful woman any guy could ever have asked for, pairing my good looks with her amazing nature was of course the most logical next step :) I guess it's difficult to answer how I feel right now. It's a mixture of immense excitement and anticipation, coupled with a degree of fear and nervousness. It's like skydiving for the first time. While you're in the air it's the most awesome feeling in the world, but you realise that at some point you have to hit the ground. Whether you use your feet to stop the fall, or your head is the question. Right now, i'm just kind of enjoying the freefall, admiring the view from up high, basking in the glory of the euphoria, and all the while knowing that this adrenalin rush im experiencing is really only the beginning. It's only when the Butterfly announces her arrival to the world that my feet touch the ground.

So many have asked whether I know it's going to be a Boy or a Girl. Well, at first I thought it was a well-hung boy (just like his dad ;) but the Gynea assures me I was only looking at the umbilical chord. It's definitely a girl. The next most obvoious question is whether we've chosen a name yet. The answer to that is No. We've got a shortlist, but have decided that we'll wait and see if the Butterfly arrives with a name of her own. Im hoping it's on a name-card or badge coz that would make our job so much easier. In the meantime, WATCH THIS SPACE :)

Favourite Pics # 1

Aahh... The Significant Other :) Still one of my all-time favourite pics. Look at that gorgeous smile, the radiance from that cute face, the joy and warmth the photo captures so magnificently. Oh, and the hot gal standing next to me ain't so bad either ;) One of my bestest friends Sabeeny, taken on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai.

See, now this right here is exactly what i'd expect the Butterfly to say when she does finally arrive. I mean, it's not like we havent been eagerly awaiting her popping her cute little head into the world and stealing our sleep time? As for the update, well, The Doc say's it's anytime this week. I say as long as it is'nt month-end Friday or Saturday, or anytime between midnight and 6am, that's fine by me. I have a sneaky suspicion Murphy's planning to rear his ugly head and prove me wrong. The Maiden's convinced it's going to be this Friday. As for me, the longer it takes the more excited and anxious I get, so as I always say to my bowling partner and wingman Jams, BRING IT ON!

Seen anything interesting lately?

So I thought i'd check out just how accurate Google Earth's satellite really is. Anyways, I visited the site earlier, clicked on "Search" and typed in "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World." What do you know, this is the pic that came up. Moral of the story: Google Earth's satellite is pretty darn accurate ;)

The Competition

Ok, so having posted the pic of The Babe Magnet, i've been getting some flack from my Wingman Jams regarding who's is the head-turner. Now I know I promised this blog would be dedicated to the Maiden & The Butterfly, so i'll sidetrack just this once. Without further ado, here's my man Jam's GTI. Like I always say, golfs may come and go, but 330D's are forever ;)

The Babe Magnet

Since no red-blooded males blogger site is complete without a pic of his wheels, I thought i'd do the page justice by adding mine. The only thing faster than this car is the owner ;) ..... bracing myself for another thump to the head, courtesy of The Maiden....

Beauty in Nature

Cool, serene, beautiful and amazing in all it's glory. Oh, and The Maiden standing in the pic ain't half bad either ;) ..... bracing myself for thump to head..... This would officially be the first holiday we took the Butterfly on, even if she did only plan on seeing daylight 3 months later.

On the 7th day, the Blog was started...

I started watching "Finding Neverland" this evening (The story of Peter Pan) and suddenly realised how quickly time goes by, and how suddenly childhood is forgotten. It reminded me of a favourite saying, "You're never too old to have a happy childhood." So this is my little contribution to keeping and storing those memories, to blowing fairydust on whomever passes through these pages every so often; and if you'll indulge me, I may even rant and rave every now and then. The Maiden may pop in on the odd occassion, just to ensure i'm not starting any wars or ending any ceasefires in her absence. In 6 years she's done a remarkable job of doing just that, so who am I to stop her now? So who is The Butterfly, you ask? Well, we wait with baited breath for her arrival :) The Maidens due, The Merchants excited and anxious, and right now The Butterfly's kicking, which is my cue to offer another back-rub :) Enjoy, and keep those posts and comments coming.
