According to her pediatrician, babies have realy just 2 options available to them for pacifying. Option 1 is the dummy, and Option 2 is the thumb. Either which way, pacifying is an integral part of their developement.Since we've opted for a No-Dummy rule, and considering the fact that The Butterfly has been an absolute dream when it comes to her sleeping and daily ritual, touch wood we've never had the need to use a pacifier yet. Lately however, especially just before her feed, she's learnt to suck on her knuckles. She's still slowly learning the difference between the knuckle, the thumb and the whole fist, but watching her figure it out is an entire evenings entertainment on its own :)
