Thinking Of Tying The Knot?

So a friend of mine came to visit me not so long ago, and he say's he's thinking of getting married.

Now normally my response would be a pat on the back and a hearty congratulation, but not when you're 22 and can't spell "Congratulations"!! I mean, for Pete's sake!

Anyways, I did what any true friend in my position would do, and sent him to the "Pre-Marital Clinic." It's a new clinic that's opened for men who are thinking of tying the knot, and has been started by men who have untied the knot. The pic here shows an illustration of one of their patients being repeatedly kicked in the "Family Jewels" each time he thinks of his wedding.

Rumour has it that the clinic has a 100% success rate, and no wedding bells can be heard for miles.

What does this have to do with either The Maiden or The Butterfly?
Absolutely nothing, except of course that i'd be undergoing the same treatment as that poor guy on the floor if The Maiden ever reads this post.

All In A Days Work

The Butterfly 20 minutes after being fed.

Note to self : Check with Nan21, makers of baby-formula, to confirm that there's no sleeping-mixture in their milk powder.

Take Me To My Bed Already

All Doctors and other Medical Professionals, after extensive scientific studies across various continents and over a number of years, have concluded that the picture you see here is the most accurate description of a well-fed baby :)

The Maiden and I tend to agree.

Rub-A-Dub Dub... Thanx For The Grub.

I'd show you the pics of The Butterfly during her bottle-feed, but trust me it get's nasty. I wouldnt want you being put off milk by The Butterfly now would I?

How nasty could it get, you ask?

I asked the same question just before I realised milk should'nt naturally be found trickling down the arm and lower back... it's just not polite table manners. I'd sooner order soup for my gran, watch her place her false-teeth in my cooldrink glass, and start sipping her meal through a straw!
Get the picture? Good, let's move on, swiftly.

Me! Milk! Now!

Wait 2 seconds longer than you should before feeding Her Royal Gorgeousness and this is the face you're likely to encounter. You've been warned !

Did someone say "Milk" ?

As I wait for the milk to get cooler, I watch her eye's following me, knowing full well that any minute now it's all her's. These precious moments right before feeding are the most fun to watch her.

Feeding Time Draws Near

What you don't see in this pic is myself holding the bottle aloft as I prepare to feed The Butterfly. Her eye's say it all.

After A Nice Warm Bath

This is the "Expectant Look" i've come to get used to. She knows there's a warm bottle to follow soon, and waits patiently to be served.

Sabreen's Picture Bonanza Week

Sorry folks, but I haven't been able to upload pics for some time now due to problems with the blogger server. I know you understand, and im sure this collection of The Butterfly's pics will have made it all well worth the wait. So without any further ado, let's start the Picture Bonanza Week :)

Have Wheels... Will Travel

The Butterfly had her first trip in her new pram! :)

Admittedly it was just two spins around the lounge, but hey, baby steps, right. (No pun intended)

In case you're wondering what that look on her face is all about, she's thinking "These wheels better have some bling mags and kick-ass sound, else im not moving an inch!"

What Big Eyes You Have...

The Butterfly, at one month and one week. Is it just me or does she look well fed? Has to be an Indian baby.

You know how Indian mom's get ready for a day out with the kid? They use a checklist to make sure they havent forgotten anything. The checklist goes something like this:
* Tissues... check
* Milk & Cookies... check
* Change of clothes... check

Good, now we can start packing for the baby.

Speak To The Hand

Im in the middle of giving The Butterfly a stern lecture on being a lady and maintaining her ettiquette when out on public, and how this includes not piddling on The Merchants shoes, when she politely fell asleep on me and showed me the hand....

Houston, we have a problem.

On Madiba's Shoes.

Ok, so there we are, thinking about what we could do on this glorious Sunday. Perfect weather, perfect time of day to take a drive, so we thought we'd take The Butterfly on her first official day out.

1 hour and 2 nappies after making the decision, we were finally packed and ready to leave.... only the pram still to pack. Since we'd never done an outting before with The Butterfly, there never was a need for a pram prior to Sunday. After opening the box it came in, I soon realised that there was some measure of assembly required to this pram, and figured carrying The Butterfly would have to suffice, as time didnt allow for any manual labour whatsoever.

Off to Sandton we went, The Maiden glad and comforted in the knowledge that The Butterfly was well and fully fed, and would be as pacified and restful as a lion cub after a buffalo lunch. We found this really cool spot in Sandton Square, up on the steps where we could sit and watch the kugels go by. The Maiden stood next to me, The Butterfly in her arms, when suddenly my wet shoe indicated to me that the big buffalo lunch was being turned into a piddle on the steps. Thank goodness it was a piddle and not a pooh!

This pic is of The Butterfly shortly after arriving back home. True to form, she doesnt have a care in the world except being gorgeous, eating, sleeping and of course, piddling and pooing anytime she see's fit. And if that means right there next to Nelson Mandela's statue, in the middle of Sandton Square, than so be it :)

The Akhalwaya's came to visit

The Akhalwaya's came to visit on Sunday. Rashid was one of the Best Man at my wedding, and I was the unofficial photographer at he's. His wife Amina is really cool, and their kid Mohamed is going to give dad's with daughter's living in a 1ookm radius sleepless nights for quite some time.

Which reminds me.... the ammo for my Magnum 45 revolver arrives on Friday, and Saturday they'll be putting up my electric fencing. "Do you live in a rough neighbourhood?" I hear you asking.... Noooo... just laying down some ground rules for any boys that are even thinking of visiting The Butterfly :)

A picture worth a thousand words

As my friend Badeeah from Cape Town would say, "Aaawww moeder!!"

Favourite Pics # 8

Aadi's wedding. On the far right, my late dad's brother Faizel. Still one of the coolest cat's I know.

Favourite Pics # 7

Vogue called. We're booked for the cover of the Summer Issue.

It's no wonder The Butterfly looks as gorgeous as she does :)

Favourite Pics # 6

My lil sis the day before her wedding.
Seems like just yesterday when she came to me in her ponytails and Algebra homework, and I pretended like I knew how to solve the problem.

"When in doubt, Copy." Worked for me.

Favourite Pics # 5

This was taken the day before my lil sisters wedding. Aaahh.. how fast they grow up. From left, The Maiden, The Merchant, Aadi, Shams and Faheem.

Why is this pic relevant now? Well, it makes me realise that every single day is as precious as though it were never going to be experienced again. Before I know it, The Butterfly will be ready to spread her wings and flutter off to a new life. Note to self: Time lost with loved ones can never be replaced.

The Mother Tongue

Ok, so I havent posted on the blog for some time now..... but then I also havent been getting my full quota of 9 hours sleep a night either (ever since The Butterfly arrived that is.)

Do I miss my sleep? You bet I do. Whould I do anything to get back my missing 5 hours a night? Not if it means I dont get to see The Butterfly's gorgeous smile every single morning. She's 5 weeks old now and watching her figure out and learn new facial expressions every day is an absolute gem.

Last night was especially precious, coz she fell asleep on my chest as I watched Jay Leno on the telly, and every time I laughed she'd stir and hold on even tighter. Needless to say, I ended up laughing even while the credits were rolling just so I could have her hold on tighter.
